Physician-owned hospital in Wyoming sold: 3 details

Healthcare acquisition and management company New Manna Augusta bought Casper, Wyo.-based Summit Medical Center, which was previously a physician-owned hospital, March 1, according to the Casper Star Tribune.

The key details to know:

1. The hospital can now take Medicare and Medicaid patients. When Summit Medical Center was physician-owned, federal laws barred the hospital from receiving reimbursements from a federal program.

2. Summit spokeswoman Lori Klatt told the Casper Star Tribune the hospital was sold to bring in reimbursements from federal programs.

3. The hospital hadn't received the patient volumes it had hoped for since opening four years ago.
