ASCOA Acquires Interest in North Carolina ASC

Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America has announced it has acquired an interest in The Surgical Center of Morehead City, N.C.

ASCOA will provide financial and operations management, staff training, compliance, contracting and other services as part of the partnership.

The Surgical Center of Morehead City is a 12,880-square-foot multi-specialty ASC with two ORs and two procedure rooms.

Thirteen area surgeons are partners in the facility, which provides procedures in gastroenterology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pain, podiatry and urology.

"We are excited to work with the Morehead City physicians, expand upon their past successes, and grow the center to exceed the expectations of both patients and physicians," said Tyler Merrill, ASCOA vice president of acquisitions and development, according to a news release. "We will be recruiting additional surgeons in order to better serve the community, as well as streamlining processes to enhance the experience at the center. The goal of our partnership with The Surgical Center of Morehead City is to usher it from an average facility to an exemplary surgery center to be envied and emulated throughout the country."
