Physician banned from seeing female patients, prescribing controlled substances in New York

The New York Department of Health has banned Deerfield Beach, Fla.-based psychiatrist Sameh Wahba, MD, from seeing female patients and prescribing controlled substances in the state, the Miami Herald reported Aug. 3.

The complaint was initially filed in New York in 2019, three weeks after Dr. Wahba got his Florida license. It charges him with incompetence, negligence, sex with a patient and prescribing addictive drugs to seven patients without reason. The final order from the state of New York was posted July 25.

Dr. Wahba surrendered his New York license in December 2019, opening the door for the Florida Board to discipline him. The Florida board filed an administrative complaint in February 2022 — the discipline process is ongoing.

Dr. Wahba hasn't responded to the Miami Herald's attempts to contact him.
