A new report shows there was faster job growth in states with the Affordable Care Act expansion, according to an Insurance News Net report.

Here are five things to know from the report:

1. Healthcare and social assistance jobs grew 30 percent faster from Dec. 2013 to December 2014 in the states with the ACA expansion than states that didn’t.

2. The states with ACA expansion saw 2.4 percent growth year over year while the states that didn’t expand the ACA grew at 1.8 percent.

3. Nonprofit hospitals have seen the number of patients go up, and revenue growth at those hospitals that didn’t expand will likely be constrained because they have more uninsured patients and bad debt increases from higher patient co-pays and deductibles.

4. The sample size, however, is small and further future growth is needed to attribute the job growth to the ACA.

5. Its unclear how other budget issues compare to job improvements and states with the ACA expanded are more exposed if the federal government decides to reduce financial support in order to lower the federal budget.
