Nurse consultant Anita Burch, RN, BSN, will assist with ASC development and management clients for Medical Consulting Group.
Here are five things to know:
1. Ms. Burch's nurse consultant role entails supporting clients' clinical directors and ensuring "all our ASCs are functioning in the safest, most effective manner in conjunction with the regulations the CMS and the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care have in place," she said.
2. Ms. Burch worked as a registered nurse at Springfield, Mo.-based Mercy Hospital for nine years. For eight of those years, she led ASC and surgical ICU teams as a charge nurse.
3. She served as Mercy's surgical services manager in an eight-operating suite, multispecialty, outpatient surgery center for two years. She was also a surgical services director at a similarly sized center for two years.
4. Ms. Burch joined Medical Consulting Group in late 2017. The company provides ASC and practice consulting, development, management, HIPAA compliance guidance, revenue cycle management and campaign creation services.
5. Ms. Burch earned an associate's degree in nursing from Poplar Bluff, Mo.-based Three Rivers College. She earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville.
"A major component of my job is to assist ASCs from start to finish with anything clinical and to educate and prepare them for survey and accreditation," Ms. Burch said.
