Advanced Urology, which serves the metro Atlanta area, celebrated its one-year anniversary of implementing same-day discharge outpatient robotic surgery in their ASC.
Rut Patel, MD, the director of robotic surgery at Advanced Urology, said, "We are happy to change the future of urology by providing higher quality, superior outcomes, and a better patient experience."
Neal Patel, MD, chief technology officer, said, "This is a win for patients, payers, and providers by bringing inpatient surgery in the hospital setting to the outpatient setting with zero narcotic use."
Advanced Urology aims to:
1. Provide unwavering focus on the best patient experience
2. Deliver superior patient outcomes
3. Follow high quality, evidenced-based medicine
4. Develop an amazing culture
5. Practice in an economically sustainable, outpatient focused model
For context, over 99.5 percent of robotic pelvic surgery is done in a hospital setting. Advanced Urology is changing the paradigm with their model and focus on quality, according to Dr. Patel.
Advanced Urology is composed of 10 surgery centers throughout metro Atlanta. The surgeons perform outpatient robotic prostatectomy, robotic ureteral reconstruction, laparoscopic hysterectomy, robotic sacrocolpopexy, and robotic kidney surgery at the Center for Special Surgery in Alpharetta, Ga., using the DaVinci X Robot.
