Mobile Anesthesia Service Enjoys Success

A mobile anesthesia service by Ambulatory Anesthesia Nationwide has found consistent demand for in-office procedures since its launch in January, according to an Oregonian report.

Founders Shawn DeRemer, MD, and Gregg White, CRNA, partners in Anesthesia Associates Northwest, retrofitted a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter to deliver in-office care for less invasive procedures that do not require general anesthesia, including dental surgeries, endometrial ablations and pain management for patients undergoing lengthy MRI scans.

The van holds portable monitors, IV stands, an anesthetics cart and a mini-pharmacy in metal chests.

Mr. White said there was a community need for mobile anesthesia, according to the report. By the end of February, the van was making up to four trips a week.
