ASA: Anesthesiologists Should Host Site Visits for Lawmakers

The American Society of Anesthesiologists has encouraged anesthesiologists to "open the door for elected officials to see the exciting world of anesthesiology by hosting a site visit," according to an ASA release.

According to the ASA, anesthesiologists should take part in the 2011 Advocacy Involvement Challenge by hosting a lawmaker or his or her staff for a site visit. So far this year, five ASA members have hosted a legislator or staff members.

To assist in the process of hosting a site visit, anesthesiologists can refer to a guide on hosting a site visit, developed by the Committee on Governmental Affairs. They can also email grassroots@asawash.org to find out more details.
