Higgs Boson Health has partnered with UVA Health to provide patients undergoing GI Endoscopy with the Manage My Surgery digital health platform.
The partnership bundles the extraordinary care by the UVA Health team with Manage My Surgery’s innovative virtual navigator to deliver high-value care to patients.
MMS officially launched at UVA in August 2020. Since that time, over 2000 patients have used the customized platform, which engages patients through text messaging or through the MMS app. So far, more than half of invited patients have chosen to download the MMS app, available on both Apple and Android smartphones. Patients using the application had lower rates of no-shows and better overall prep quality. Pre-call requirements for COVID symptom checking has decreased by approximately 50%, saving nurses and endoscopy unit staff hours of effort.
Patient feedback has also been very high. Over 95% of users felt the application was helpful in preparing for their procedure; more than 9 in 10 would recommend it to a friend or family member undergoing the same procedure. One patient notes, “This was the greatest! It kept me on schedule which is much needed nowadays with so much going on.” Another patient writes, “It’s a lot easier to answer all the questions before the appointment then to feel rushed trying to get it done when you get to the appointment.”
Manage My Surgery (MMS) is a virtual navigator that empowers patients to be engaged through their entire procedural journey, leading to better health outcomes. MMS also helps healthcare systems and practices improve practice efficiency by automating tasks previously requiring nursing and staff effort. More information can be found at www.higgsbosonhealth.com
