Covidien Launches Device to Cut and Staple Colon Tissue

Covidien has announced the launch of the Endo GIA Radial Reload with Tri-Staple technology, according to a news release.

 

The device is used to cut and staple colon tissue. It is designed for an open or laparoscopic approach through a hand port or similar access device, and enables surgeons to operate effectively in the deep pelvis when performing low anterior resection procedures, according to the release.

 

"Covidien is setting new standards for access, maneuverability and staple line security in LAR procedures with this innovative new design for the Radial Reload," said Mike Primavera, director of product development, surgical solutions, for Covidien, in the release. "Using feedback from our customers, we designed the device to deliver optimal performance, even in the most challenging cases."
