Geneva, Ill.-based Fox Valley Orthopedics' ASC could become the first surgery center in the Midwest to earn an Orthopaedic Advanced Specialty Certification from the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care.

3. The center touts an infection rate that is 25 percent lower than a hospital-based setting.
