3 Successful Techniques for Recruiting Good ASC Physicians

Sarah Martin, regional vice president of operations of Meridian Surgical Partners, shares three best practices for recruiting the right physicians to your ASC.


1. Ask partners for suggestions on physicians to recruit.
It is helpful to have an introduction from another physician partner. I have certainly made cold calls, but having that peer-to-peer reference is certainly a great way to start the recruitment process.

2. Always keep your ears open to what is going on in the community.
Anesthesia providers who work at other facilities are great providers of information. Whenever I hear that a physician is either unhappy with the local hospital or another ASC that he works at, I jump at the opportunity to talk to them and share what our center has to offer.

3. Invite them to our center
. I find that if I can get them to meet the center clinical director, to hear about our low turnover, see the equipment we have and, of course, what a friendly environment it is, that goes a long way to getting them to try the center. I certainly also have them talk to the administrator, especially if they are interesting in discussing partnership opportunities in addition to utilizing the center.
