Harvard, MIT grads team up to transform healthcare for the chronically ill

Joe Khan and Yasyf Mohamedali, computer science graduates from Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, respectively, are the founders of Karuna Health, a startup that provides software automating care coordination tasks for hospitals, according to Forbes.

Here are the key details to know:

1. Because 1 percent of patients account for 20 percent of healthcare spending, care management software like Karuna can make care management more scalable.

2. Through their experience as both patients and through family members involved in the healthcare system, Mr. Khan and Mr. Mohamedali interviewed stakeholders in the healthcare industry to develop Karuna Health.

3. Mr. Khan and Mr. Mohamedali have raised $1.25 million for Karuna Health from First Round Capital, Founder Collective and BoxGroup, among others.
