Recent Study Showed Overall Patient Experience at Hospitals Has Improved

Recent research findings show a 1.6 percent annual increase in the number of positive patient responses to hospital patient satisfaction surveys, according to a HealthGrades news release.

HealthGrades conducted an analysis of HCAHPS hospital survey data obtained from CMS from April 2009-March 2010. Other key findings from their research included the following:

·    Patients were the most satisfied with the discharge instructions with 81 percent of respondents answering that they did receive this critical information.

·    Patients were the least satisfied with the quietness of their rooms and the explanations of the medications they were being given with just over half (55 percent and 58 percent, respectively) indicating they were satisfied with these aspects of their hospital care.
