Meet HCA’s highest-paid executive

The highest-paid executive of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare is the system’s CEO, Samuel Hazen.

In 2023, Mr. Hazen’s total compensation came to $21,315,984. This includes his salary, stock awards, option awards, non-equity incentive plan compensation and other compensation. 

Mr. Hazen was appointed CEO in 2019 after having served as president and COO since 2016. He also serves on the board of directors for the Nashville Health Care Council, Federation of American Hospitals and the HCA Healthcare Foundation.

HCA Healthcare consists of 186 hospitals and about 2,400 sites of care.
