Access MediQuip, a surgical and implant management company, has expanded its national contract with WellPoint, a health benefits company that includes more than 36 million members.
The partners originally completed their agreement for the industry's first national surgical implant management program in 2008. Under the new agreement, Access MediQuip will provide implant unit cost savings, data transparency and improved quality and safety management.
Access MediQuip will also work with stakeholders in the surgical benefits arena, including providers, surgical facilities and manufacturers, to help reduce costs and increase safety and quality management.
"We are pleased to renew and expand our highly valued relationship with WellPoint and to serve its affiliated health plan members throughout our innovative surgical implant management program to offer access to safer, more affordable care," said Prakash Patel, MD, CEO of Access MediQuip. "The entire team at Access MediQuip is pleased to continue supporting WellPoint's mission of delivering high-quality and affordable programs and services that meet the growing needs of consumers."
