Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality offers survey tool for ASCs — 3 facts

The AHRQ designed a patient safety survey specifically for outpatient surgery centers, The Joint Commission reported. Here are three facts:

1. The AHRQ’s ASC Survey on Patient Safety Culture asks ASC staff for their opinions on the culture of patient safety in their facility. 

2. The ASC Survey on Patient Safety Culture contains 27 questions on topics including patient information, staff communication, work pressures, training and responses to mistakes. It is offered in both Spanish and English.

3. The AHRQ provides an action planning tool for using the results of the ASC Survey on Patient Safety Culture, which takes about 10 minutes to complete.

4. The tool helps an ASC identify areas for improvement and develop organizational quality and safety strategies.
