Becker’s has tracked more than 80 new ASCs opened, announced or under construction so far in 2026. Most represent a single health system making a single move. But eight systems are building more than one new ASC in 2026 .
Here are eight hospitals and health systems that are pouring into ASCs most in 2026, as reported by Becker’s:
1. NYU Langone Health (New York City)
- Opened a 54,000-square-foot, six-operating-room ambulatory center in Patchogue, N.Y., on the site of a former Burlington Coat Factory.
- Announced plans for a new ASC in Manhasset, N.Y., alongside a new academic medical center in Melville, N.Y.
- Opened a 12,000-square-foot primary and specialty care location in Brooklyn’s Clinton Hill neighborhood.
- Opened a 25,000-square-foot ambulatory care and imaging center in Riverhead, N.Y.
2. Lee Health (Fort Myers, Fla.)
- Broke ground on a 100,000-square-foot ambulatory center in Cape Coral, Fla., its largest Cape Coral project in more than 40 years.
- Broke ground on a $42 million pediatric surgery center next to Golisano Children’s Hospital in Fort Myers.
- Started construction on a 60,000-square-foot combined ASC and medical office building in Fort Myers.
3. Atrium Health (Charlotte, N.C.)
- Launched an ASC joint venture with OrthoCarolina in Charlotte.
- Cut the ribbon on a $163 million ASC and medical office building in Greensboro, N.C.
4. Mass General Brigham (Somerville, Mass.)
- Won certificate-of-need approval for a $7.3 million endoscopy ASC in Cambridge, Mass.
- Struck a joint venture with Tampa General Hospital to build an ambulatory network on Florida’s east coast, starting with a radiation oncology center in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
5. MUSC Health (Charleston, S.C.)
- Opened South Carolina’s first cardiac-focused ASC at its West Ashley Medical Pavilion in Charleston.
- Broke ground on a 90,000-square-foot ASC and sports medicine facility on Clemson University’s campus in Clemson, S.C.
6. Munson Healthcare (Traverse City, Mich.)
- Is preparing to open a second, smaller surgical center in Cadillac, Mich., this summer.
- Opened an orthopedics and urology ASC in Gaylord, Mich.
7. Northwell Health (New Hyde Park, N.Y.)
- Opened a 17,000-square-foot pediatric orthopedic and urology center in New Hyde Park, N.Y.
- Opened a $5 million women’s multispecialty center in Manorville, N.Y., run through its Peconic Bay Medical Center.
8. University of Michigan Health-Sparrow (Lansing, Mich.)
- Won board approval for a $62 million ambulatory center in St. Johns, Mich.
- A $60 million ASC in Lansing, Mich., that won approval in February and broke ground over the summer.
