Traverse City, Mich.-based Munson Healthcare plans to open an ASC in Cadillac, Mich., this summer, according to a May 8 WWTV 9&10 News report.

The center will provide same-day surgical procedures and other outpatient care for patients in northern Michigan. The facility is intended to expand access to lower-cost care in rural communities where patients often travel for procedures in Traverse City or Grand Rapids, Mich.

The facility includes one operating room, three procedure rooms and 22 beds for pre- and post-operative and pre- and post-anesthesia care.

Munson expects the center to serve a catchment area of 80,000 to 90,000 people and treat 20 to 30 patients per day, depending on case complexity.

The center will focus on same-day procedures, including total joint replacements and cataract surgeries, according to the report.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
