University of Michigan Health-Sparrow has broken ground on a $60 million surgery center in Lansing, Mich., NBC-affiliate WILX 10 reported June 22.
The new facility will add operating rooms and a new MRI unit to the health system’s surgical capacity in the region. Hospital officials said the project is designed to address capacity constraints, improve access to surgical services and reduce patient wait times.
UM Health-Sparrow is the product of University of Michigan Health’s April 2023 acquisition of Sparrow Health System, which created a $7 billion, 11-hospital system with more than 200 care sites across Michigan.
