ColonaryConcepts announced Dec. 18 that it purchased EC Prep, its proprietary colonoscopy preparation platform, back from Sebela Pharmaceuticals.
What you should know:
1. ColonaryConcepts uses a blend of diet bars and beverages to help with patient bowel preparation.
2. ColonaryConcepts sold the platform to Sebela in 2017. Sebela agreed to return the rights to ColonaryConcepts through this deal.
3. ColonaryConcepts will now begin the phase 3 clinical trial process, aiming to launch the trial in mid-2020.
4. In a phase 2 trial, patients consumed the EC prep food platform and underwent a colonoscopy. Physicians ranked 90 percent of the colonoscopies as either excellent or good.
