The anesthesiologist worked at Reading Hospital through March 18, participating in surgical procedures and obstetrical deliveries. The individual was fully masked during the procedures, and the rooms where he worked were cleaned afterward.

The infection wasn’t acquired at Reading Hospital, parent organization Tower Health said in a letter notifying employees and medical staff about the diagnosis. Employees with heightened risk were asked to stay home until 14 days after possible exposure.

Tower Health is based in Wyomissing, Pa.
