Dr. Payne is also a member of MUSC’s Mission Based Management Committee, Department of Medicine Compliance Committee and Conscious Sedation Committee. His clinical interests include advanced endoscopy, pancreatobiliary endoscopy, hepatology and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. His work has been published in a number of prestigious journals, such as Transplantation Proceedings, Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Dr. Payne earned his medical degree at University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, where he completed his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship.
