Six residents in Lynchburg, Va., were surprised with free LASIK procedures from Piedmont Eye Center, according to a Nov. 8 report from WSLS.

The six people, including a firefighter, police officer and healthcare worker, were finalists in a giveaway, the report said. They expected only one person to win, but all six learned they would be receiving the procedure free.

“I’m completely speechless,” one winner told WSLS. “I know we all deserved it, and then for [Dr. Darin Bowers] to just give it to all of us means the world. [It] just means the world to wake up and be able to see one day and not look for glasses.”
