GI physician leader to know: Dr. Mukund Venu of Loyola Medicine

Mukund Venu, MD, is the medical director of GI operations and GI testing as well as an assistant professor of gastroenterology at Maywood, Ill.-based Loyola Medicine. He also served on the Patient Care Committee for the American College of Gastroenterology.

Dr. Venu’s clinical interests include anorectal manometry, colonoscopy, endoscopy, constipation, dyspepsia, esophageal motility, GERD and heartburn. His research interests center on GI motility disorders and eosinophilic esophagitis. His work has been published in prestigious, peer-reviewed publications such as Gastroenterology and Liver Transplantation.

Dr. Venu earned his medical degree at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He completed his residency and GI fellowship at Milwaukee-based Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals. He has also pursued additional training in gastroduodenal and colonic motility at Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic.
