GI physician leader to know: Dr. Chin Hur of Massachusetts General Hospital

Chin Hur, MD, is the director of GI Health Outcomes Research at the Massachusetts General Hospital and an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, both located in Boston. He joined the faculty of the MGH Gastrointestinal Unit in 2002.

Dr. Hur has a professional interest in gastroesophageal reflux disease, Barrett’s esophagus, gastrointestinal cancer, cancer chemoprevention and eosinophilic esophagitis. His research interests include outcomes research, specifically technology assessment with a focus on decision analysis and disease modeling. He has previously been involved in developing a simulation disease model of Barrett’s Esophagus and Esophageal Cancer.

Dr. Hur’s work has been published in numerous prestigious publications, including World Journal of Gastroenterology, Gastroenterology and Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention. He has received numerous awards from the National Institutes of Health as well other research foundations.

Dr. Hur received his medical degree and Master of Public Health degrees from Johns Hopkins University and completed his internal medicine residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He completed his fellowship at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
