What you should know:
1. The G-Eye colonoscope includes a proprietary balloon at its distal bending section. The balloon can be inflated during colonoscopy and helps control the colonoscope’s field of view and positioning.
2. Clinical trials have shown that colonoscopy with a G-Eye-equipped scope increased detection of precancerous polyps over standard colonoscopy.
3. The G-Eye scope can be used with endoscopes manufactured by Fujifilm, Olympus and Pentax.
NYU Langone Health installed the G-Eye in collaboration with Fujifilm. Mark Pochapin, MD, director of gastroenterology at NYU Langone Health, said, “We are excited to be the first medical center in the U.S. performing colonoscopy with the G-Eye colonoscope and providing the newest-available technology to our patients.”
