San Angelo Community Medical Center was acquired by San Angelo-based Shannon Health in October. The transaction was made possible by an antitrust immunity provision included in Texas’ Certificate of Public Advantage law.
Dr. Blanc confirmed to SanAngeloLive.com that he was fired Nov. 10. He said Shannon Health told him he “didn’t fit their long-term plans” and the system “terminated [his] employment without cause of action.”
Lyndy Stone, Shannon Health spokesperson, said to SanAngeloLive.com: “While we cannot comment on personnel matters, our two cardiology departments are working closely together to serve patients. This has no impact to the variety of services available to the community we serve or the scope of those services.”
Dr. Blanc was active in the community, hosted a cooking show on local television and established a mall-based exercise program to promote heart health.
