Cardiosense, a medical AI technology company, appointed John Martin, MD, as chief medical officer and executive vice president.
In the role, Dr. Martin will lead the company’s clinical development and product strategy, according to an Aug. 12 news release from Cardiosense.
Dr. Martin is a practicing vascular surgeon at the University of Maryland Vascular Center at Annapolis, as well as the founder of the Heart Health Foundation, a nonprofit focused on education, prevention and early detection of cardiovascular disease.
In addition, Dr. Martin has executive leadership experience at Butterfly Network, where he led efforts to bring advanced imaging and monitoring technologies to hospitals, clinics, emergency departments and remote care settings.
The company recently received FDA 510(k) clearance for its CardioTag device, and anticipates de novo classification for its first AI algorithm noninvasive pulmonary capillary wedge pressure estimation in the coming year, the release said.
