From radiation oncology partnerships in Alabama to a $1.1 billion retina acquisition, the physician deal landscape has been anything but quiet this spring.
In just 40 days, 15 major transactions reshaped physician networks, practice affiliations and specialty care delivery across the country, spanning cardiology, ENT, oncology, orthopedics and more.
Here are the 15 deals:
1. Huntsville, Ala.-based Clearview Cancer Institute partnered with Alliance Cancer Care to launch a Radiation Oncology Division. Alliance Cancer Care’s eight radiation oncologists will lead the new division. The practice treats patients across north Alabama, delivering more than 58,000 radiation treatments annually at clinics in Huntsville, Decatur and Florence.
2. Maury Regional Medical Group added Middle Tennessee Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists to its physician network. The practice will operate as MRMG Ear, Nose & Throat and includes Shaun Corbin, MD, and Stephen Parey, MD. Both physicians are board certified in otolaryngology and sleep medicine. Dr. Corbin also serves as medical director of sleep medicine.
3. Upton, Mass.-based Hopedale Cardiology will join the division of cardiovascular medicine at Worcester-based UMass Chan Medical School, effective October 2026. The practice, led by Scott Brownstein, MD, has provided cardiovascular care at Milford (Mass.) Hospital since 1995.
4. Providence Regional Medical Center Everett (Wash.) has inked a new hospitalist services contract with Vituity, a physician-owned multispecialty partnership. In February, the hospital ended its agreement with Optum, its previous hospitalist services provider. That partnership had been in place for more than 20 years, according to the report. Current hospitalists with Providence will be offered similar roles with Vituity, and the partnership will go into effect July 29.
5. Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health has acquired sole ownership of MRI Group and Lancaster PET Partnership. The Lancaster, Pa.-based health system previously co-owned the imaging groups with Lancaster Radiology Associates. The groups operate six locations across Lancaster and Chester counties offering MRI and PET imaging services.
6. Washington, D.C.-based George Washington University and King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services, are close to finalizing a contract deal over the Medical Faculty Associates. For the last several months, the university and UHS have been in contract negotiations over a new academic affiliation arrangement that would impact both the George Washington University Hospital and Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center.
7. Detroit-based Henry Ford Health has added Clinton Township, Mich.-based Cornerstone Medical Group effective April 1. Cornerstone comprises 25 offices in the Detroit area offering family and internal medicine, pediatrics, endocrinology, hospitalist care, podiatry and colorectal surgery. More than 80 physicians and advanced practice providers will join Henry Ford’s network.
8. Portland, Ore.-based Regenerative Orthopedic Center has acquired West Linn, Ore.-based ActiveEDGE Physical Therapy & Wellness Center, expanding its care model to include in-house rehabilitation services. ActiveEDGE, founded in 2014, will operate under a new name, ROC Active–Orthopedic Rehabilitation.
9. Premier Health Partners has acquired Dayton, Ohio-based Digestive Specialists. Dayton-based Premier Health is a nonprofit academic health system serving Southwest Ohio.
10. Nashville, Tenn.-based Sage Health, a primary care and wellness provider serving Medicare-eligible seniors, has secured $50 million in growth capital from Trinity Capital. The funding, which will fund geographic expansion into new medically underserved markets, brings Sage Health’s total capital raised to $170 million.
11. Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Pediatrix Medical Group has acquired Nashville-based Tennessee Maternal-Fetal Medicine. The acquired practice includes four board-certified physicians and six advanced practice providers serving patients across five locations in Middle Tennessee.
12. Columbia, S.C.-based Oasis Health Partners acquired Premier Health, a healthcare administrative services organization specializing in revenue cycle management and practice operations. The acquisition expands Oasis’s platform for independent primary care practices, adding capabilities including value-based care contracting, analytics, clinical support, RCM and day-to-day operational services.
13. Conshohocken, Pa.-based pharmaceutical services company Cencora signed a definitive agreement with Atlanta-based EyeSouth Partners to acquire its retina business for $1.1 billion. 14. Once the transaction is completed, retina physicians affiliated with EyeSouth Partners will join Concora’s MSO, Retina Consultants of America, according to a March 23 news release from Cencora.
15. Annapolis, Md.-based Vision Innovation Partners has acquired Frederick Eye Institute, a comprehensive ophthalmology practice in Frederick, Md. Led by Robert Hodges, MD, Frederick Eye Institute specializes in cataract surgery and lens implants, as well as treatment for glaucoma, macular degeneration and dry eyes.
