Providence St. Mary Medical Center gains certificate of need for ASC —- 3 details

Walla-Walla, Wash.-based Providence St. Mary Medical Center’s request for a certificate of need for an ASC was approved May 30, according to the Union-Bulletin.

Three details to know:

1. The center is slated to open in 2020, and will be built as part of a $6.7 million renovation at the Providence Southgate Medical Park at the site of a former hospital surgical department. The ASC will have two operating rooms and two endoscopy procedure rooms.

2. The ASC is expected to increase surgical capacity by 2,000, and endoscopy volume by 1,300.

3. The certificate of need approval comes after multiple delays from the state’s department of health.
