GI physician leader to know: Dr. Russell Yang of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine

Russell D. Yang, MD, is chief of the gastroenterology and hepatology division and professor at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield. He previously served as an associate professor of clinical gastrointestinal and liver disease as well as director of the Center for Pancreatic and Biliary Diseases at the Keck School of Medicine-University of Southern California. He is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American College of Gastroenterology and American Gastrointestinal Association.

Dr. Yang focuses on colon cancer, constipation, diverticulitis, esophageal cancer, gallbladder disease, GERD, irritable bowel syndrome, liver diseases, pancreatic cancer, rectal problems and gastrointestinal endoscopy.

Dr. Yang earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and completed his residency at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C. He completed his fellowship at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and USC Medical Center in Los Angeles.
