GI physician leader to know: Dr. David Pound of Indianapolis Gastroenterology and Hepatology

David Pound, MD, is a practicing gastroenterologist at Indianapolis Gastroenterology and Hepatology and president of the Indianapolis Gastroenterology Research Foundation. He also provides care with Indianapolis-based Franciscan St. Francis Health Group, where he is a member of the credentials committee. He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and American College of Gastroenterology as well as the inaugural fellow of the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease in 2014.

Dr. Pound has won numerous awards over the course of his career, including the Salute to Excellence Award from the Indiana Chapter of the American Liver Foundation and Franciscan St. Francis Health Group’s 2015 Distinguished Service Award. He was also awarded the Glenn W. Irwin, Jr., M.D. IUPUI Experience Excellence Recognition Award for his work developing the Indiana University Medical Center Liver Transplantation Program.

Dr. Pound earned his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. He completed his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.
