Dr. Overholt helped develop the flexible fibersigmoidoscope-colonscope while serving in the Cancer Control Program of the U.S. Public Health Service, for which he earned the Schindler Award from the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the William Beaumont Award from the American Medical Association. He has written numerous articles, several book chapters and recently co-edited “Office Endoscopy.”
Dr. Overholt earned his medical degree at the University of Tennessee Medical School. He completed his residency at University Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich., where he also completed his fellowship in gastroenterology.
