Gastroenterology companies are growing in 2026, adding new offices, expanding provider networks and drawing fresh capital as consolidation reshapes the specialty.
Here are six GI companies Becker’s has reported on that are getting bigger this year:
1. Jacksonville, Fla.-based Borland Groover opened a new outpatient gastroenterology office in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., on July 6, expanding the practice’s footprint along the Emerald Coast. The location joins Borland Groover’s existing Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., office and an Emerald Coast Endoscopy Center currently under development. The practice cares for more than 150,000 patients annually and performs more than 50,000 colonoscopies each year across Florida.
2. Dallas-based GI Alliance has drawn significant new capital this year, including a $785 million investment from Apollo Global Management and a $2.8 billion majority stake from Cardinal Health. Led by President and CEO Jim Weber, MD, the practice management company continues to expand its network of affiliated gastroenterology groups nationwide.
3. Atlanta-based United Digestive expanded its payer relationships and technology partnerships in 2026, including a multiyear provider network agreement with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and new partnerships with patient adherence platform Gifthealth and data firm OMNY Health. The company, a private equity-backed physician practice management company backed by Kohlberg & Co. and Ares Management, operates more than 60 clinics and 22 ASCs across Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina.
4. Exton, Pa.-based US Digestive Health added seven physicians to its network this year. Optum subsidiary SCA Health acquired the practice in early 2025, adding scale to Optum’s portfolio. US Digestive Health now includes more than 250 gastroenterology providers across 40 practice sites and 24 ASCs in Pennsylvania and Delaware.
5. Chicago-based GI Partners of Illinois, the largest independent physician-led gastroenterology group in the state, is in active talks with two GI groups as part of an acquisition strategy, Geogy Vennikandam, MD, the group’s COO, told Becker’s. The group is also launching new service lines this year, including a nutrition and metabolic health program called MyNutritionRx through a partnership with Sylvan Health.
6. Gastro Florida, the region’s largest independent GI group with more than 60 providers, joined Tampa General Hospital’s provider network this year, expanding access to gastroenterology services across the Tampa area.
