1. Dr. El-Serag is the Baylor College of Medicine’s chair and a former editor-in-chief of AGA’s journal, Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

2. His research focuses on clinical outcomes of hepatocellular carcinoma. Dr. El-Serag has written over 100 publications about the disease.

3. Dr. El-Serag’s term as president ends in May 2020.
