12 Statistics on GI Based on ASC Size

Here are 12 statistics on GI/endoscopy based on number of operating rooms, according to data from VMG Health’s Multi-Specialty ASC Intellimarker 2010.

In large ASCs (more than four ORs):

1. Average gross charges per case were $3,735.
2. Average net revenue per case was $770.
3. GI represented the second-highest percentage of case volume at 18 percent, after ophthalmology (20 percent).
4. GI represented the lowest net revenue per case of all specialties.

In medium-sized ASCs (3-4 ORs):

5. Average gross charges per case were $3,357.
6. Average net revenue per case was $778.
7. GI represented the highest percentage of case volume at 21 percent.
8. GI represented the lowest net revenue per case of all specialties.  

In small ASCs (1-2 ORs):

9. Average gross charges per case were $2,689.
10. Average net revenue per case was $628.
11. GI represented the highest percentage of case volume at 35 percent.
12. GI represented the second-lowest net revenue per case of all specialties, after pain management.
