Commercial real estate company George Comfort & Sons filed an application with the zoning board to allow for the construction of the surgery center at High Ridge Park in Stamford. The location was a designated commercial district, which does not allow surgery centers.

The zoning board voted four to one against the change that would’ve allowed the 14,000-square-foot surgery center project to move forward, according to the report.

Stamford (Conn.) Hospital opposed the project.
