5 organizations vie in North Carolina for CONs — 5 insights

Five North Carolina-based healthcare organizations are seeking certificates of need from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to build or add operating rooms in state, the Triad Business Journal reports.

Here’s what you should know:

1. Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Triad Center for Surgery is seeking approval for a new ASC with two ORs and three procedure rooms.

2. Greensboro, N.C.-based Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital and MC Kernersville (N.C.) are also seeking approval for a new ASC. Their facility would have two ORs, a gastroenterology endoscopy room and a procedure room.

3. Charlotte, N.C.-based Novant Health and Novant Health Clemmons (N.C.) Outpatient Surgery want to add two ORs to the outpatient surgery facility, raising the number of ORs to a grand total of four.

4. Winston-Salem-based N.C. Baptist Hospital and the partnership of Novant Health and Winston-Salem-based Forsyth Memorial Hospital are each seeking to expand their existing OR totals.

5. The department will hold a public hearing July 16 on all the projects.
