Aurora Health Care's $130M surgery center, office building project receives approval
Milwaukee-based Aurora Health Care received approval from the Pleasant Prairie Plan Commission for its $130 million ASC and office building development in Pleasant Prairie, Wis. Construction is expected to begin this summer, with an anticipated 2020 completion date.

New Twin Cities Orthopedics clinic with ASC opens its doors
Minneapolis-based Twin Cities Orthopedics opened a 48,000-square-foot facility in Blaine (Minn.) June 11. The clinic houses the Blaine Orthopedic Surgery Center.The clinic houses the Blaine Orthopedic Surgery Center.

KKR will have about 300 ASCs in its portfolio after Envision acquisition
KKR plans to acquire Nashville, Tenn.-based Envision Healthcare for around $9.9 billion, adding to the global investment firm's portfolio. AmSurg operates 261 ASCs and one surgical hospital in 35 states. When KKR's investment is complete — likely during the fourth quarter of 2018 — the firm will have nearly 300 ASCs under its belt.

The 2019 diagnosis code changes are here
The CDC published the ICD-10-CM code changes June 11 for fiscal year 2019. There are 473 code changes, including 279 new codes, 143 revised codes and 51 deactivated codes.

St. Elizabeth Healthcare, OrthoCincy building surgical training center
Edgewood, Ohio-based St. Elizabeth Healthcare and Cincinnati-based OrthoCincy Orthopedics & Sports Medicine are building a surgical training center and conference venue in Erlanger, Ohio. The center will accommodate physicians throughout Ohio.

American Vision Partners acquires Miles Eye Center, eyes other practices
American Vision Partners affiliate Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center in Phoenix partnered with Show Low, Ariz.-based Miles Eye Center to expand vision care services in Show Low and Lakeside, Ariz. American Vision Partners is also seeking partnerships with other eye care centers throughout Arizona and other regions, according to President and CEO Kyle A. Bohannon.

GNS Surgery Center installs robot for spine surgery — Among 1st ASC of many?
Athens, Ga.-based GNS Surgery Center, a United Surgical Partners International affiliate, installed the Mazor Robotics Renaissance system and completed the first procedure. GNS is the first ASC in Georgia to offer the Renaissance system, but Mazor sees many more ASCs installing the technology in the future.
