How many hours per week do physicians work? 6 statistics

A little more than half of physicians (52.7 percent) wish that they could work fewer hours a week, according to Physicians Practice’s 2015 Great American Physician Survey.

Physicians work:

 

•    40 hours or fewer — 25.5 percent
•    41 to 50 hours — 28.5 percent
•    51 to 60 hours — 25.2 percent
•    61 to 70 hours — 12.8 percent
•    71 to 80 hours — 3.8 percent
•    More than 80 hours — 4.2 percent

 

The survey includes responses from 1,001 physicians.
