Healthcare costs keep increasing for workers: 5 takeaways

Annual premiums for employer-sponsored family health coverage increased 4 percent from last year, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation/Health Research & Education Trust 2015 Employer Health Benefits Survey.

The survey, conducted from January to June 2015 received responses from nearly 2,000 non-federal pubic and private firms.

Here are five takeaways:

1. Annual premiums for family health plans hit $17,545 this year.

2. Workers are paying on average, $4,995, towards their coverage.

3. The survey found many employers want to implement health risk assessments, biometric screenings and health wellness programs for their employees.

4. Workers' wages increased 1.9 percent between April 2014 and April 2015, and inflation decreased by 0.2 percent.

5. Family coverage premiums increased by 27 percent in the last five years.
