Healthcare penalty may reach $695 — 4 observations

Uninsured residents may face a steep fine of 2.5 percent of annual income or $695 per adult and $347.50 per child if they do not sign up for health insurance, according to FOX San Antonio.com.

Here are four observations:

1. Uninsured individuals have until Jan. 31 to sign up for health insurance.

2. The penalty is up from 2 percent of income in 2015.

3. President Obama said more than 90 percent of Americans are now covered.

4. According to EnrollUSA, more than 100,000 indiviudals in San Antonio have enrolled for coverage through the ACA.
