American Vision Partners has agreed to a $1.75 million settlement over a data breach, according to court filings pending in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona.
Per the court-authorized settlement notice, approximately 258,070 individuals whose Social Security numbers and other private information were compromised make up the damages subclass. A larger group — roughly 1.6 million individuals whose personal information was affected — makes up a separate injunctive relief subclass.
The settlement has received preliminary court approval but is not yet final. A fairness hearing is scheduled for Dec. 10 before the court decides whether to grant final approval.
