Three things to know:
1. About 75 percent of Northwell’s regular ventilators are already occupied, while 75 anesthesia machines have been converted and are ready for patient use, according to the Post.
2. Northwell is also making ventilators out of 300 bilevel positive airway pressure machines, which are used to treat sleep apnea patients, by using 3D parts.
3. New York state could need as many as 30,000 ventilators to handle a surge of COVID-19 patients, according to Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
