New York system to shutter addictions program by 2020

Irving, N.Y.-based Brooks-TLC Hospital System will shutter its Lakeshore Health Center campus at the end of the year, leaving 20 fewer beds for inpatient addiction treatment, Buffalo Business First reports.

The Irving-based campus will remain open until it can transfer all six patients currently receiving treatment for chemical dependency and nine involved in the inpatient behavioral health program.

Although volume initially exceeded expectations, Lakeshore Health Center has seen significant declines in its 18 months of operation.

Volume is down for the emergency department, primary care and outpatient surgery, which will put the hospital at a projected loss of $7.1 million for 2019.
