One-size-fits-all leadership training programs are rarely effective, according to Anesthesia Business Consultants President and CEO Tony Mira.
To be successful, a leadership training program should have both group buy-in and customization, Mr. Mira said. He explained how this approach benefited a growing anesthesia supergroup on the West Coast.
After efforts to use off-the-shelf leadership training modules proved futile, the group's president "brought his colleagues together and asked for their suggestions and recommendations for a training program that would conform to the needs, structure, and dynamics of their group."
This engagement technique created a sense of unity and motivation, in turn reducing turnover and boosting employee satisfaction.
