Four COVID-19-related updates from Anesthesia Business Consultants:
1. Under the CARES Act, businesses with fewer than 500 employees that have been significantly affected by COVID-19 are eligible for a forgivable loan.
2. The U.S. Small Business Administration updated the Paycheck Protection Program interim final rule April 4, and it does not include compensation paid to an independent contractor in the loan or forgiveness calculations. However, independent contractors may file on their own.
3. CMS is waiving physician supervision requirements for certified registered nurse anesthetists during the national emergency.
