Boston Scientific signed a definitive agreement to acquire Xlumena, a device company that focuses on the development, manufacture and sale of minimally invasive devices for endoscopic ultrasound. Boston Scientific will pay $62.5 million upfront and an additional $12.5 million when the HOT AXIOS system receives FDA clearance.

BÜHLMANN, a company based in Germany, launched IBDoc, an at-home, in-vitro diagnostic test for gastrointestinal conditions, including some inflammatory bowel diseases

Cantel Medical divested Saf-T-Pak, its specialty packaging business, effective April 7. The sale was motivated by a desire to focus on core markets.

The FDA approved the expanded indication for EVARREST Fibrin Sealant Patch from Ethicon. The expand indication allows the patch to be used for the control of bleeding during adult liver surgery.

Following Valeant Pharmaceutical‘s acquisition of Salix Pharmaceuticals, 258 Salix employees were laid off in Raleigh, N.C., according to a WRAL TechWire report.
