Here are nine ASC projects that were announced or completed in July, as reported by Becker’s:
1. Touro, a nonprofit hospital in New Orleans, opened a $7.5 million renovation that doubles the size of its outpatient surgery center. The facility now includes six operating rooms and 15 pre- and post-operative bays, and offers procedures across 12 specialties, including gastroenterology, orthopedics and vascular care.
2. Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai and Torrance (Calif.) Memorial Medical Center plan to open an orthopedic-focused ASC.
3. Kaiser Permanente advanced construction plans for its long-planned Redlands, Calif., medical campus, with the Redlands Planning Commission set to review detailed site plans for the project’s first building.
4. Seattle Children’s is building a $103 million ASC in Federal Way, Wash., adding three pediatric operating rooms to its South Sound region.
5. Multiple developers are set to break ground on a healthcare facility and surgery center in Hoover, Ala. The South Haven Surgical Plaza is an 80,000-square-foot, four-story medical center that includes an ASC with six operating rooms, two procedure rooms and an advanced imaging and diagnostic center.
6. Manchester, N.H.-based Elliot Health System opened its expanded surgery center.
7. Tampa, Fla.-based Moffitt Cancer Center purchased 34 acres of land in Lakeland, Fla., for $12 million to build an ASC and outpatient center. Phase 1 of the outpatient center will include cancer screenings, diagnostic imaging, blood draw and clinical labs, radiation therapy, infusion services, medical oncology clinics and access to clinical trials. The second phase will add an ASC along with a wellness, research and educational facility.
8. Naples (Fla.) Comprehensive Health opened the NCH Robotic Surgery Institute, an outpatient surgery center for minimally invasive robotic procedures.
9. Harlingen (Texas) Medical Center cut the ribbon on its advanced surgical institute on Aug. 6.
